“I’ve been waiting for
Your capable hands to come down
Ooh, I’ve been praying for
Your capable hands
To come down and turn this around
Your capable hands
Could carry the weight of the world”
Weight of the World, Jon Foreman
The above lyrics, from one of my favorite artists, are really speaking to me this morning. Anyone else feeling like they’re waiting, wanting, and hoping for the capable hands of God to intervene in the world?
Right now, there are so many people that I care for deeply who are going through the unimaginable. Without doubt there are prayers and shouts going out, longing for God’s help.
Life is hard
Life is a journey
Life is full
As we face the hardships, suffering, and pain in this world, how do we keep moving forward?
Love
Hope
Community
In reality, we can’t keep moving forward alone. We must journey with love, and in community. We know that we won’t see the answers to all our heart questions. That’s hard! We want answers. I want answers.
When going through hard seasons, in reflection, when we look back at those experiences, we remember the people who showed up. We remember those who were present. It doesn’t mean that those present said a word to us. Indeed, people can be present to offer a hug, a handshake, or a silent prayer. Maybe, when present, someone (occasionally) offers a kind word.
As we journey into this new year, show grace. Imagine how you can be present for one another. Imagine how you can be love to one another. Imagine how you might be Christ to one another.
We wait. We wait for the capable hands of God to come down. We wonder. We wonder, how the capable hands of God may work through our hands, hugs, and care, to reach out to those we know, and to those of whom we are yet to meet.
Blessings
